Arsalan Zare is a Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta, working under the supervision of Dr. Mahdi Hamidi in the nanoAIM group. He completed his B.Sc. at K. N. Toosi University of Technology, where his research focused on the mechanical properties of 2D materials via molecular dynamics simulation. He then completed his M.Sc. at the University of Tehran, investigating the electrochemical performance and degradation mechanisms of solid oxide fuel cell electrodes, and applying machine learning to uncover the interrelationships between synthesis, structure, and performance. His current research centers on Na- and Li-metal battery systems, with a particular focus on understanding and mitigating dendrite growth in solid-state electrolytes. By integrating simulation, machine learning, and experimentation, he aims to construct design maps that link processing, structure, and performance, and to identify new strategies for suppressing dendrite formation.
